Hey everyone I'm John. I'm fairly new to airsoft, but I've been interested in it for awhile. Now that I've found this I'm planned to get really involved. I just need advice for a first electric airsoft gun, I have a a few electric pistols and a gas one, A couple of spring rifles.  I was thinking of this: http://www.import-action.com/ae-5290.html , I know its a cheapo, yet all the reviews of it have had it as a decent starter and a great CQB. Thanks for any advice.

One of my team mates has a P90 but its more advanced then that one. But hes already having problems with it. But if you do ever decide to play with us I would get a little more advanced gun than that. Almost everyone that plays there guns are over 300FPS.

SAVE YOUR MONEY PLEASE. Well you are just getting into the game but the people here, you will need a better gun.  There are some good 150 dollar guns if you do not mind saving for a little bit as entry level guns.  Go to websites such as http://airsoftgi.com/ and http://www.airsoftpost.com/ to start, there are tons more but these two I have found the most as of US dealers.

First off welcome to the forums and ASN.

Field rules: http://forum.airsoftnebraska.com/index.php/topic,1360.0.html

As for a starter gun I would agree with Khazzy, save your money. Another thing to consider would be that there is very little CQB style play on the fields we play on. Most is mid-long range forest. Please feel free to ask any questions. There are plenty of people with a great amount of knowledge that will be able to help with any questions you may have.

This is the standard entry level gun that players on our field typically use:

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_163&products_id=1975

This one or any of the other M4/M16 variants made by Echo1.  They are very good guns for the price and will give you all the performance you need to play at our games.  If you find that you really enjoy airsoft you could get a high end gun ($300-400) at a later date.  We are also selling A LOT of quality used guns on the site right now:

I would take a long, hard look at these before you invest in any new AEG as the folks on this forum are selling some high quality guns at very reasonable prices.

Welcome to ASN!

Like others have said already, you are so much better off saving up more money. That P90 you linked is like the “cheap of the cheap” and would only lead to let down and buyer’s remorse. When it comes to entry level airsoft guns your price point should be at least $150 for something that will last you a while  and take a beating. Not that I assume you’ll be rough on it, but it will have to withstand a bit of abuse. Gunfather mentioned Echo1 as somewhere to start looking for an affordable starting gun and I agree, I have an Echo1 MP5 that I got as my first gun and it served me well and is very sturdy. In fact my first game out with these guys it was so humid and my eyepro fogged up and I tripped and fell right on my gun. I thought for sure I busted it but it was fine, it’s not working at the moment most likely due to my own doing, and  has seen plenty of punishment.

Other brands I recommend are ICS, G&G, SRC, and G&P if you can afford a mid-level gun. For entry level the pickings are pretty slim due to the Chinese Lunar New Year taking place and because of the Chinese Government crackdown on airsoft guns late last year. There are still some descent low priced AEGs out there, brands to look at if you can find them in stock are Echo1 as well as CYMA, DBoys/ Kalesh, Kart, A&K, and some AGM guns. If you find something you like or are interested in finding out more about a specific gun post up links and any one of us here will be glad to help or offer suggestions.

Some sites that will be of great use to you:

I would say that the combat machines are a good starter gun.  I haven't had any experience with one, but there have been a lot of good things said about them.

I have a friend that has that exact gun. I would advise against it. It is constructed extremely cheap and i was highly unimpressed by it.

IMHO I would save $30 more and get this one. http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_107&products_id=4726

The one you linked:
The way it is wired to the front made it near impossible to break down the gun to change the barrel with out having to cut the wire and re-solder it. The dust cover was extremely hard to open to adjust the hopup seeing as it stays closed when not holding down. The charge handle does not drop the dust cover. The front triangle site is built into the front portion of the barrel and the gas bar/support bar is built into the triangle site. This makes for an impossible idea of external upgrades.

The one I linked:
Blow back ensures that you have a dust cover that flips down, adds a nice effect. The front is built better for later external upgrades. The break down also will work properly without having to cut any wires.

Looks fine to me but just don't expect to be hitting people a long ways away with it. It would be more of a good CQB gun. But other than that G&G is a good brand. But If I were you I would definitely go for the ECHO 1 M4.

Just a note since I have the one Piro linked and am now discovering some of its issues being a plastic G&G(I am spoiled by my full metal one I bought first).  The front sight is still part of the front part of the outer barrel, however the gas tube is not connected to it.  When I first got it, I thought it had pins for the sight but oh well, I was planning on changing out the outer barrel anyway.  Also, yes, the blowback lets you pull back the charging handle and drop the dust cover, however, now you have to hold back the charging handle to move the plastic bolt out of the way of the hopup adjustment.  This makes it more difficult to adjust the hopup than the non-blowback G&Gs.

However, the plastic is very solid and I do not foresee any issues with cracks, etc.  For a new player, none of the things I have mentioned about this gun should put you off from buying it.  It may not be as versatile for external upgrades but the internals are going to be solid coming from G&G so it should definitely be on anyone's list if they are looking for a lower end M4.

My only gripe with recommending an E1 M4 is that JG produces a far better gun for about the same price.  The new Full Metal JG guns have a slew of features that make them supperior in every way to the E1.  And thats sad because E1 just rebrands other guns, their M4's are old gen JG's, their STAG series are not though... not sure what they are, but they are not E1's.

I would definetly recommend any G&G proline guns.  The Plastica's are pretty solid guns too, but the Prolines are just a whole different ball game when compared to each other.  Different strokes for different folks!

well as far as p90s go,  i am a big fan of my Tokyo mauri p90 triple rail,  has alot of upgrades available,   and the rails are a nice feature to add attachments with,    and actually theres one in the classifieds for sale,  and its a darn good price i might add,..

last time i used my p90. she never failed me, and after i get done doing upgrades,  itll be a lil more beastly,
