AEG i would say last all year long GBB only in warm weather all they do is add recoil and AEG's are $$ efficient

I was going to post something about this so mine as well. GBB are fun to have and use but if you are on a tight budget, I would recommend an AEG, not to mention I recommend an AEG simply because Nebraska is not a warm weather state all year round. The loss in rate of fire and FPS makes you hindered on the field during cold times. Leaving you with a large disadvantage of distance and what not. If you lived in Arizona like i came from, GBB is ideal because the weather suffices for it. On the other hand, Green Gas/Red Gas can get expensive, but you can run a Propane adapter and use cheap 2-5 dollar Coleman propane tanks for your magazines. Overall i would just go with an AEG if you are competing. If you want something to shoot cans/targets in the backyard and have the money to buy gas, GBB is your choice. Like saber said, all GBB does is add recoil to your weapon. Cool note about GBB rifles, if I am not mistaken, is the fact it breaks down similar to a Real Steel weapon.

That last all of 600 rounds before they break... Seriously AEG, you can buy ALOT of different types of AEG's for about the same price as a GBB, however the GBB is more expensive to maintain (like 40 fold... consider replacing EVERY part internally with steel (lower reciever of AR's) and replace the bolt with one that is reliable as well) and expensive magazines, and the cost of gas. GBB's are just not practical... get an AEG then you can play year round.

I have to agree with Whiskey. Stay away from GBB. Recoil is cool but the inconsistency of GBB makes them pretty inaccurate. If you want blow back try one of the electric blow back aeg's. I had the cyma blowback mp5 and it was pretty cool. There are alot of companies putting out EBB guns now. JG, CA, CYMA, G&G, TopTech, Echo1, and I am sure there are more.

Until they come up with a high quality, cost effective, and 100% ready to play all year round. I'm going to have to say... AEG. Simply because it is more budget friendly and because they are more reliable in all weather conditions (Hot and Cold).

I totally agree with the general feeling that others have towards GBBR's. My WE-Tech SCAR is nice, but it's super picky. It is still a blast to shoot, but at $50 a pop for 30 round magazines it is not a cheap primary. I also found out the hard way of buying into a brand new system that there are sometimes kinks that need to be worked out in the first production runs. Like how running the co2 magazines are very rough on the internals and ended up having the hinge plate on the stock break on me. After I got a replacement part from Evike, I'm almost scared to shoot it in fear of another part breaking. I still take it out every couple weeks and clean and lube everything and do some shooting in the backyard. But it still does not seem totally skirmishable. It does however inspire a bit of "ouuuu's and ahhhh's" when I let my friends shoot it because of the heavy recoil and the menacing sound it makes during a full-auto cycle. Like someone else mentioned, most of the GBBR's out now field strip much like their real steel counterparts. And I will add to that and say that much like a real firearm they need to be maintained and babysat. Thorough cleanings and lubrication is a must. As there it not much room for error and any dry or dirty parts are going to acquire unexpected wear and tear. The plus side to having a system that runs on co2 is that it suffers very little from cool-down and outdoor temperatures. So unless your willing to drop nearly the same amount as the price of a GBBR on upgrades and spare parts, plus about the same amount on the not-so-cheap magazines. Go with an AEG, like others said there are allot of new electric blowback systems out now. Granted you don't get the full recoil experience and distinct report of the bolt when you lay on the trigger they still look like good fun. I myself have been eyeballing the new CYMA EBB AK series, which I have heard very good things about. But before I get another AEG I have a shotgun in mind on my short list.
