Okay guys, here's the deal. There aren't really teams in Nebraska. There are Organizations. But no Actual teams. People have tried to start up teams and thing like that, but they get out of it either after no one cares about teams and doesn't want to join, or they realize that its pointless to start an organized team. If you don't quite understand what I'm saying, just look around the forums for posts like this (People wanting to join a team, or want to start a team) and you might get it. If you want to start a team, by all means you can try, but it will probably split up later on. Here's what you SHOULD DO. If its you're first time out and you're under 18 come out with a parent/guardian who has to sign the waiver in front of the game admin (the parent might have to stay for the duration of the game as well) If you don't have a gun yet but want to come out to a game, just borrow one. You'll be surprised at how many extra guns almost everyone has. They will most likely let you use, only if you break it you pay for it. If you're parent cant come out to a game to sign the waiver, meet a game admin before the game (like during the week) meet them somewhere in Omaha, Lincoln or whatever. If you don't have a ride to the field, ask around, if someone lives in you're area you can probably carpool with them.

NO teams? I beg to differ... Team GTI is still arround. Our team leader is just on deployment (and should be coming off soon)... we are not recruiting though, sorry gents. Junior Sniper is right, ASN focuses on individual organizations, the GOAA, AGPU, 462nd (if they are really still around ), your affiliation with any of them means nothing really, it's just who you play with the most. I personally play with the GOAA more, but I have been to ALOT of 462nd games too. AGPU kinda doesnt exist anymore, but the occasional game at Madcow paintball can be fun. Just come out to a game, make friends, and play airsoft with them out on the field.

The strength of an organization over a team is pretty easy to identify too. Induvidual teams need 2 things to work: availability of their players to all show up on the same day and opposing teams. Even if some teams to manage to form, finding another team with the same availability is just not realistic in this increasingly busy world. Organizations at least have set rules and guidelines and a way of communicating with it's members while not relying on everyone to show up in order for an event to take place. Generally teams are picked on site and they can even change up the teams/settings in-between games without worrying about mixing "set teams".
On a personal note, I've yet to see many teams really be effective/visable on the ANF. It doesn't mean they don't happen, but generally speaking they tend to be a bit "elitist" as opposed to the more Open Door policy that organizations approach.
Maybe after seeing so many of these "Want to join a team" posts we should set the record straight with a Pinned topic explaining how "teams" are approached in this state.

Elitest? Hmm... not really... we just dont recruit lol. The goal of teams is not team on team contact, the goal of teams are that a group of guys train together, work together and fight together such that when it comes time to split people up into teams in a game, they have a squad that they work together with. At least, this is the premise GTI was founded upon. Our training is individual and comes together at regular ASN games and gets implimented in full when the game is large enough to denote individual squads such that our squad can work on it's own.
"Team" vs "Team" games are a product of paintball and laser tag, not airsoft. In airsoft when we say teams we really mean FIREteams, or squads within one side of an actual game. I have yet to see a Team vs. Team game in the paintball/lasertag sence of the phrase.
Soo... Bazooka, you coming to the OP yet? You'd be able to see more effectivly how a "team" works if you'd come to the game... no excuses! Come to the game.

There really is no such thing. The closest would be the combat operations style thing where all teams are pitted against fixed missions/foes and scored points. Airsoft team vs team doesnt work because it is too easy/tempting to cheat. Look how bad we deal with it now! If winning became monetary gain or even status gain, people would cheat to no end. As it is airsoft is set up so that everybody wins sometimes and everybody loses sometimes, but everyone always has fun! The only "team vs team" that happens is in little kiddies heads trash talking wannabe badassery asshatts. Yes that is the technical term. Maybe after seeing so many of these "Want to join a team" posts we should set the record straight with a Pinned topic explaining how "teams" are approached in this state.
The problem with pinned topics is that the people who dont need to read them do and the newbies who do need to read them don't. (and post a new topic ZOMG WHAT GUN TO BUY WHERES A TEAM NEAR ME LOLX0R MY ELITE 30$ AEG PWNS YOU) Also, GTI is totally eliteist snotty SOBs. *runs*

Team, as in what is desired should be better defined. Most "Teams" are just an organization of individuals in the Airsoft community, more inclined for a "buddy" system rather than an organized and practiced tactical organization. The group mentality as well as the hey diddle diddle straight up the middle approach to get into the "action" pretty well eliminates a true Team concept.
Just start playing with the group, find some buds where you can understand and play within the style presented and have fun. When you hit 18 go to the Army (Infantry) or USMC and expierience true "teamwork" for a few years, then you will be better able to adapt to the more loose style of airsoft. Have fun, and enjoy the game.

Whats going on everyone! I'm brand new to the site and anxious to get involved locally in Omaha. I'm an old man (26) :wink:and I 've been playing Paintball for awhile but I'm veering toward airsoft now a days. I'm aware most games take place out side of Omaha and would appreciate any contacts willing to get together and skirmish. Any direction is greatly appreciated. Who knows maybe we can pull together an Omaha crowd guys. Please feel free to hit me up . Thank You Gentlemen.

i dont think you need to join the army or usmc to understand teamwork...just putting that out there, yeah it may help, but there are a lot of fat heads in both branches, its more of an acquired learning experience. the military teaches you these but there is more to it than that, you need pride, need determination, need the will to fight on, the list goes on anyways get out to a game, they are posted when there is one going to happen, come out, have fun, meet some people, who knows they may live down the road from you, enjoy the sport of airsoft, that said, i suggest reading the rules on this forum as well to get a better understanding of how games work. you will not get everything the first few games, but its a learning experience and you eventually adapt to different play styles. just head on out and enjoy
